Type is Beautiful 是一个关于西方文字 Typography（字体排印）的 blog，使用中文书写。
关于 Typography
这个词在 blog 里面暂时有时候会翻译成字体排印，因为中文还没有一个成熟公认的翻译，事实上这个词的内涵也很难概括，字体排印比较能说明这个词所包含的大部分概念。
我们在/想干吗
这个 blog 的内容主要关于字体、印刷、排版相关知识、新闻、历史和评论，以及相关的平面设计、信息设计和公共设计的内容。一些是我们学习中的一些笔记和有意思的事情，另外一些是我们编译自国外网站或者杂志的稿件。
现在的状况是，这个 blog 写的东西在外行看来会不知所云，在内行看来会贻笑大方、漏洞百出。因此本 blog 的目的完全不是、不敢成为百科全书或是任何形式的指南。真正学习 Typography 的方法是阅读原著，比如这个书单（还有个中文的）。写这些东西一方面为我们自己整理思路之外，也希望能将一些基本的东西介绍给各位。关于 Typography 背后的所谓对待设计严谨的态度、理解设计的精确性/学术性之类，我们都希望能够涉及，总之能做一点是一点吧。

Type is Beautiful, established in 2007, is a blog written in Chinese about typography. We either are or were students and designers based in London, for which our writings mainly focus on western typography. Relevant news, events, historic stories, reviews and essays about general typography (typeface, printing, layout, graphic design and information design etc.) will be covered. We are trying our best to create original contents, yet occationally we publish Chinese translations of articles from various websites and magazines. In either case, all the reference and credits are clearly stated.
